It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Anica Bubalo. She was born on July 14, 1952 and passed away unexpectedly at home in Edmonton on November 19, 2017.
Anica will be forever missed by her son, Lance Bubalo Colak (Claudia); grandsons, Cristiano and Nico; sister, Alice (Edward); brothers, John and Mato; nieces and nephews, Jon, Jax, Jade, Joss and Nicole. Anica will also be remembered by many friends and extended family members, including cousins and their families in Hercegovina, Croatia, Germany and the USA.
She was predeceased by her father, Stanko Colak in January 1993 and her mother, Slavka Colak in February 2017.
Anica was a loving mother and devoted grandmother, “Baba”. She was a generous, independent, free spirit who loved all things natural. She was the happiest with her grandsons and nieces and nephews; and in her garden and greenhouse.
A Prayer Service will be led by Reverend Franjo Visaticki on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011 – 114 Street, Edmonton.
Reverend Martin Carroll will celebrate a Funeral Mass on Friday, November 24, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Basilica, 10044 – 113 Street, Edmonton. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Memorial donations in memory of Anica may be made to Caritas c/o Nativity of Mary Croatian Catholic Church, 10560 – 98 Street, Edmonton, or a charity of choice.
