Goulden, Alvin Eugene-76, of Sandy Point, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Roseway Hospital, Sandy Point. Born in Birchtown he was a son of the late Thomas and Letitia (Belong) Goulden. Alvin started his working life as a truck driver and loader operator for Robert E. Collupy Ltd, and enjoyed this greatly. Following that, from 1964 to 2000 he worked for Atkinson & Bower Ltd. as a welder/fabricator primarily serving the needs of the fishing industry. He made many friends through his work, and looked forward to conversations with customers. During the month of July Alvin could be found in his hayfield, on his tractor, at his favorite place, Hartz Point. He held many cherished memories of time spent there with his father, and later in life, his own family. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sharen, Sandy Point; son, Leslie, Sandy Point; and daughter Stacey (Jason) Ferguson, Stellarton; brother, Harry (Barb) Goulden, Shelburne; sister-in-law Irma Johnson; brother-in-law, Stanley Demings, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Leslie Goulden; Lindburg (Alice) Goulden; Norman Johnson and sister, Elizabeth ( Betty) Demings. Visitation will take place Tuesday, Nov. 21 from 7-9 p.m. in H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 22 at 2:30 p.m. from Christ Anglican Church, Shelburne with Rev. Ed Trevors presiding. Burial will be at the Upper Sandy Point Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Roseway Hospital Charitable Foundation or the VON. The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the medical providers who lovingly cared for Alvin during his time in hospital. Special thanks to Dr. John Keeler, the staff of Roseway Hospital, and the VON of Shelburne County.
