Mitchell, Alfonso – It is with great sadness the family
announces the passing of Alfonso “Al” Mitchell beloved
husband of the late Josephine (McCaffrey) who was born in Saint
John,NB, which occurred on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the
Lakeridge Health Centre in Oshawa. Al was born on April 16, 1937 in
Doncaster, England he was a loved son of the late Alfonso and Ethel
Mitchell. He is survived by brother in law: Johnny St. George of
England; several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents he
was predeceased by sister: Margaret St. George.
Al came to Canada in 1956 where he became a proud Canadian and met his
true love, Jo. They were married soon after, a marriage that was full
of great love and respect for each other until Jo passed away in 2005.
Al was a great fan of the Manchester United soccer team and watched
every game he could. He was employed with Pilkington Glass where he
worked his way up the ladder. After retirement He worked part time as
a school bus driver in the Seagrave, Ontario area. Al made many
friends while working there, that have remained close through the
years. Many thanks to all his friends and neighbours for all the
kindness shown to him.
Resting at Fitzpatrick’s Funeral Home 100 Waterloo Street, Saint
John, NB (634-1965) with visiting on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from
11 am – 12 Noon. A Funeral service will be celebrated from
Fitzpatrick Funeral Home Chapel at 12 Noon. Interment will take place
in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may
be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Online remembrances and
