Obituary of Yvonne Menard
Yvonne passed away peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at the age of 78.
Yvonne will be missed by her loving daughters Nadine Sachs (Todd) and Natasha Sloat (Jamie), and fondly remembered by her 5 grandchildren, Norah and Lilah Sachs and Dreyden, Asia and London Sloat.
Yvonne was predeceased by her husband Gary Menard in 2022, and by her parents Arthur and Ann Brockbanks.
Yvonne came into her parents’ lives on November 29, 1946, in the Northern England industrial town of Sunderland, which explains the grit and toughness she showed until her final moments.
At the age of 18, Yvonne and three friends left England in search of opportunity in Canada, where she settled in Kitchener, Ontario. It was in Kitchener where Yvonne met the love of her life, Gary Menard. Happily married for 51 years, their children and grandchildren are a living testament to way they lived. For both Gary and Yvonne, above all else there was family, and the love and memories created together.
A special thanks to the staff at Wellington Hospice for making Yvonne’s last days comfortable and peaceful.
Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo on Thursday October 9th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm.
