WOLGRAM, Herald Eric UPDATED SERVICE INFORMATION
February 5, 1930 — January 11, 2025
UPDATED SERVICE INFORMATION: A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 1:00 pm, at the Sanctuary Lutheran Church, 4091 Lakeshore Road Kelowna, BC.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Herald Wolgram in Kelowna, BC, just shy of his 95th birthday. He died in Christian faith with the knowledge that his Lord and Saviour had prepared his way to eternal life. Family and Faith were most important in his life.
Herald was born in Lampman, Saskatchewan, to parents Fred and Nettie. In the summer of 1934, with older brother Leonard, the family moved to Vernon, BC, to find a better life. There, they became members of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Herald played a lot of sports in his youth, but his passion was hockey, where he played for the Vernon Lions Juveniles.
While attending a lacrosse game, Herald met the love of his life, Margaret Morrison, who was a telephone operator in Vernon. They were married in 1952 and had 66 wonderful years together until Margaret’s passing in 2018.
Herald spent his entire career in the grocery business, working at Malkins/Kelly Douglas (a division of Loblaws) first as a truck driver, then in the warehouse as a produce clerk, and finally as a salesman travelling from the border to Revelstoke and Golden, BC. In 1969, Herald took a position as a buyer in the Kelowna Warehouse until his retirement in 1990.
In Kelowna, Herald and Margaret became members of First/Sanctuary Lutheran Church, where Herald sang in the choir. He also took up curling and golf, but his favourite pastime throughout his life was playing crib. In 2003, Herald and Margaret moved into Balmoral Retirement Community, then Herald moved to Northwood Retirement Home in 2020, where he made many new friends.
Herald was predeceased by his beloved wife, Margaret. He is survived by “his girls”, Dianne (Bob) Stewart of St. Albert, AB, and Karen (Blair) Fox of Kelowna, BC. Herald is also survived by his grandchildren, Erin (Michael) Debusschere, Rob (Danielle) Stewart, Jeffery (Marina) Fox, and Michael (Krista) Fox; as well as great-granddaughters Lily and Julie. He is also survived by his nephews Mark, Ken, and Peter Wolgram and their families.
The family would like to thank Dr. Hamidi and all the nurses and doctors at Kelowna General Hospital and Central Okanagan Hospice House for their kind and compassionate care.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 1:00 pm, at the Sanctuary Lutheran Church, 4091 Lakeshore Road Kelowna, BC.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Central Okanagan Hospice House.
