Winnifred Carol Jaansalu Obituary
W. Carol Jaansalu
Carol Jaansalu (nee Rice) died peacefully in her sleep on December 30th 2024. Predeceased by her husband Ants, sisters Lorraine Colford and Edna McFarlane, she is survived by her sister Bess MacMaster, children Kevin (Mary Lou) and Patricia, her beloved grandsons Michael and Matthew, and many nieces and nephews.
Born in Westport Ontario, Carol met her husband Ants at a local dance and they married in 1965. A wonderful homemaker and mother, Carol was involved in school councils and the Lakeshore Swimming Pool Association for many years. Socially active in local golf clubs, bridge groups, and other community organizations, Carol was known for her passion for family and friends. Carol was also fiercely independent and strong willed, never backing away from challenges. She was the first to help those in need and the first to celebrate anyone’s success. In her later years, she doted on her family, especially her grandsons, and enjoyed travelling with Ants and making many new friends. Her kindness and generosity will be missed.
Visitation will be held at JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME 1900 John Counter Blvd. on Sunday January 5th from 2-4 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Monday January 6th 11 a.m. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to U.H.K.F., the MS Society, the Salvation Army, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
