Passed away at Rideaucrest on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at the age of 82. Bill was married to his first love for 43 years, Betty Jean Todd (Burns) until her death in 2005. Dad remarried to his new love June Winsor and found a new lease on life and spent many happy years with her until her death in 2024. He will be sadly missed by his children Tom (Ruby), Dawn (Steve), Jim, Joy (Dave) and Janet, as well as his step-children Jennie (Mark) and Jewel (Ken) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Much loved by his found family (after 74 years), brother Phillip (Evelyn) Mavety, sister Jackie Cartwight, and late brother George Mavety. We searched long and hard for you and although you may have not had long enough together, he was so happy to have finally found you. Bill was predeceased by his brothers Raymond Paul, John Todd and Don Paul, and parents Dorothy Goodfellow and Bill Todd Sr.
Our father overcame many obstacles throughout his life and worked hard to support his wife and children as a long distance truck driver until our mother Betty needed him most when he semi-retired to care for her. Bill loved to be by the water and had many happy memories with his cousins Bill Russell and Ronnie Goodfellow in Lyndhurst at Red Horse Lake. These memories stayed with him until he was close to the end and was one of the last memories he could recall. He loved the simple life including a cold beer or shot of rye, a BBQ in winter or summer, a boat ride, fishing, a swim in the lake and sitting around a campfire. His children have many happy memories of the camping trips to the island where our mother now rests. Bill was a fantastic dancer and enjoyed it with both Betty and June. Bill was a huge football fan and loved his Sunday games. After two strokes and a long illness with Lewy Body Dementia, his mind and body were tired and he closed his eyes and decided to reunite with the two loves of his life. We will all miss you. Forever in our hearts.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial donations can be made to Dying with Dignity Canada or the Lewy Body Dementia Association. Arrangements have been entrusted to Payne Funeral Home, 178 Main St., Odessa.
Please share your memories and condolences to the family.
