After a very long and valiant fight, Rob peacefully passed away surrounded by his family at Hospice Simcoe at the age of 77. Beloved husband and best friend of Nancy (nee Taylor) for 50 years. Loving and compassionate father of Kate Shantz (Rick) and Laura Wilson. Predeceased by his parents, Jack Wilson and Millie Keighan. Dear son-in-law of Lenora Taylor and the late Ronald Taylor. Lovingly remembered by his brother, John (Diane), sister-in-law Patricia Taylor and nephews Matt, Ian, Cam and Louis. Rob will be missed by extended family and many dear friends.
The family would like to thank all of the care team in the Transitional Care Unit at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre for their excellent care and kindness during Rob’s stay and, in particular Dr. Jonathan Morris and Dr. David Boushy. Also, thank you to all of the staff and volunteers at Hospice Simcoe for making Rob comfortable during his last days.
In keeping with Robert’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Guests are invited to a Celebration of Life at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. and a service at 2:00 p.m. inside the lower lounge.
