February 1 1935 – January 27 2025
We are sad to announce the passing of William (Bill) Walker on January 27 suddenly at his home. He was in his 90th year. Bill was the son of Dorothy and Malcolm Walker. Born on February 1 1935 in Toronto. Loving husband of Mary Elizabeth (Urquart, Deceased October 11, 2024), devoted father of Catherine Walker-Stol (Michael), Barbara Wride (Brian), and dedicated grandfather of Jessica, David (Sofia), Addison, and Fiona.
Bill worked for Ciba-Geigy pharmaceutical company for over thirty five years as a trusted and respected sales representative. During that time he and Mary went on numerous trips all over the world with the company.
Bill was a long-term member and elder at Glenview Presbyterian Church. Bill was a loyal member of Scouts Canada. For many years Bill organized the Santa Clause Parcel program which delivered Christmas gifts to underprivileged children of Toronto.
After retirement, Bill volunteered for the Red Cross. Bill loved to learn and enjoyed various courses at York University. He volunteered weekly with the Out of the Cold Program.
Bill was a member and secretary for the St Andrew’s Society in Toronto. He and Mary were regular attendees in their full regalia at the annual ball. More recently, Bill participated in the men’s coffee group on Wednesdays and attended the biweekly talks with the Retired Men’s group at Glenview Church. He volunteered at North York General Hospital at the information desk and he had worked his shift the day he passed.
Bill enjoyed yearly summer holidays with his family. He was an adventurous traveller, going on bike trips, camping and cruises. He enjoyed reading, painting, maps, genealogy, RCMP history, good food and his nightly “wee dram”.
Bill was a loyal friend and devoted husband. A loving father who supported his daughters always, and a fun grandpa who celebrated his grandchildren’s accomplishments. He will be missed by many.
