ABEL, William Henry(Harry) October 12, 1927-January 22, 2025. Born in Tantallon, Saskatchewan to parents David and Elizabeth Abel(deceased). Big brother to Shirley. Beloved husband to Isabel (d. 2018). Much loved Dad to David (Carol), Jean(predeceased), Cathy(Tim) and Susan(Grant). Cherished Grandpa of Meaghan (Seth), Justin, Gordon (Katie) and Garnet (Andrea). Great-Grandpa(GG) to Aeryn.
Harry grew up on a farm in Tantallon, Saskatchewan. He and his family moved to Nipawin, Saskatchewan, where he met Ed Neufeld. They played hockey, curled, joined the air cadets and became best friends, and remained so until this day.
Harry graduated as an engineer in 1949 and moved to Vancouver, then Toronto, where he worked for Imperial Oil as a manager, until his retirement in 1984. Harry and Isabel travelled the world, loved to golf and curl. And most of all they loved to spend time with their children and grandchildren!
Harry delighted in telling stories of growing up in his beloved Saskatchewan, talk of politics, the Canadian economy and world events. He enjoyed getting on his computer, listening to big band jazz, reading and taking walks…. until it became too difficult. He was grateful for the life that he had, and at 97 (though he would say he was in his 98th year!!), he was ready to go.
We would like to thank the PSW’S from CCAC and the PSW’S and nurses from Glynnwood, for all their help with Harry. He very much appreciated it.
