It is with broken hearts that the family of the late William Drake of Marystown, NL announces his passing. Bill passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on April 27, 2025 at the age of 81.
Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are his wife of 48 years, Geraldine Drake; daughters, Kelly Keating (AJ) of CBS and Lindsey Vaughan (Rob) of Calgary, AB; grandchildren, Liam, Lola, Ella, Emery and Annie; siblings, Maggie Fitzpatrick, Lee Miller (Jerome), Wally Drake (Daphne), Mary Downey (Pete), all of Marystown and Annette Brake (Tom) of BC; sister-in-law, Kathleen Dober (Howard) of Marystown; brother-in-law, Len Kelly (Vonnie) of Nova Scotia; many nieces and nephews, plus a large circle of extended family and friends.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, Cyril & Maryann Drake; parents-in-law, Leonard & Annie Kelly; brother, Pad Drake; brothers-in-law, Eddie Fitzpatrick, George Hooper, Thomas Kelly; sisters-in-law, Betty Brenton (Henry) and Maureen Kelly.
Bill was the heart and soul of his family — a man whose greatest joy came from watching his loved ones grow, succeed, and make him proud every single day. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, and an adoring poppy.
A true character in every sense, Bill was the life of the party, known for his sharp wit, tall tales, and a laugh that could fill a room. He had a natural gift for storytelling — whether it was a joke to lighten the mood or a memory from the good old days, Bill always had something to share that left people smiling.
A lifelong operator of heavy equipment, he was a hardworking man whose dedication to his craft was matched only by his commitment to providing for his family.
