Obituary of William (Bill) Lacroix
In loving memory of
William (Bill) LaCroix
August 10th, 1949 –March 19th, 2025
With deepest sorrow we share the passing of William Laurance Maxime LaCroix (Bill) of Edmonton Ab, on Wednesday March 19th, 2025, at the age of 75 years. Born in Sault Ste Marie Ontario on August 10th, 1949. At less than 2 weeks old he was lovingly adopted by Bill and Leah LaCroix of Blind River to complete their family. At the age of seven his family moved to Arnprior Ontario where he resided for the next 20 plus years completing his education at White Pine College (Gillie’s sawmill). In the late ’70s Bill came West to Calgary Alberta and started working at Calgary Transit and retired in 2008 after 28 years’ service. During this time, he met his wife Karen and soon became a dad to two amazing girls. During his career at Calgary Transit, he became interested in the workings of the local union; Amalgamated Transit Union local 583. He became involved with the Union as a steward and worked his way up to financial secretary, he retired after his 3-year service office term. Bill’s biggest joy was his family, and he helped raise two beautiful smart girls. He was reunited with his son but sadly his time with all of them was cut short. Time at the cabin fishing and just being outside always brought a smile to his face. The later years were filled with grandchildren and all the things they learned from Papa, truth, kindness and how to use a log splitter. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Leah & Bill LaCroix, sisters Joan (Ron) Pountney, Lorna (Don) Wright, Lucille (Graham) Loucks and Brother-in-Law Ernie as well as several nieces and nephews. He is survived by his eldest sister Lorraine Crain of Corbiel Ontario, his first wife Lynda and son Joe. His loving wife of 44 years, Karen and daughters Brenda-Marie (Kyle) and Kelsey (Jerome), grandchildren Stephen, Real, Anthony, Avery and Annaliese, many nieces and nephews as well as lifelong friends (66 years) Barry LaBrie, John Craig, Terry Mouland. There is no service at this time at Bill’s request; in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton Alberta.
