Obituary of William (Bill) Ross Campbell
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Ross Campbell, who passed away on February 7, 2025, at the age of 68. Born in Saint John, NB, on July 12, 1956, Bill was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Campbell (Mallory); his children, Ross Campbell (Joanah) and Lynn Campbell (Adam); and his cherished grandchildren, Monica Campbell and Myles Campbell. He was predeceased by his parents, Roderick Calvin (Cal) Campbell and Doris Eileen Campbell (Gidney), as well as his sister, Calva MacDonald and husband Larry and his brother, Elwood Bruce Campbell.
He will be deeply missed by his surviving siblings, Roderick Campbell (Pamela), Deborah McLaggan (Wayne) and Dorothy Francis (Ross), along with his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Bill was a dedicated member of Local 213 of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada. Well-known for his skill and generosity, he was always the first to offer a helping hand, tackling any repair with patience and expertise—no matter how big or small the task.
Bill’s favourite place was the family cottage in Bayswater, where he spent countless hours enjoying the company of friends and family and the beauty of the river. He also loved hunting, fishing and boating. A highlight of the summer for the children was the endless tubing and water skiing adventures.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Saint John Regional Hospital for their compassionate care and support during Bill’s final days.
He will be remembered for his kindness, his willingness to help others and the love he had for his family.
A private family gathering will take place at a later date.
