William ‘Bill’ James Murdoch
March 19, 1960- January 15, 2025
After a lengthy battle with cancer, Bill passed away peacefully at his home in The Pas, MB on January 15, 2025, with his family by his side. Bill was predeceased by his parents Arthur & Lois Murdoch, sisters; Jan Lewis, and Brenda Elder, mother & father-in Law Linda Stoltz & Jake Cadorette, brother-in-laws Norman Stoltz and Ron Krochak, Bob Lewis, and daughter Jennifer Dawson.
Bill is survived by his best friend and soulmate of 39 years; his wife Teresa Dawson, children; sons Wayne and Chad Gienow, Richard (Lisa) Dawson, Daughters; Melanie (Curtis) Belfour, Roxanne (Ryan) West, son-in-law Terry Cook, grandchildren; Kelsea (Chet), Amber, Dylan, Ashlynn, Ryler, Jordan, Keyshawn, Haley, Keenan, Drayden (Anisha), Liam, Troy, Rhianna, Lexi & Beckett, great-grandchildren; Andrea, Elaina, Blake, Aveah, Kayson, Violet, Briley & Brynlee, sisters; Francis (Don) Radfelder and Sheila Parsons, sister-in-laws; Sandra (Ron) McLeod, Liana (David) Sushelnitski, Laurel (Dennis) Weir, brother-in-laws Eddie Stoltz, Carl Elder, as well as numerous nieces & nephews, and friends, including special friends he considered ‘close friends’ whose friendship he cherished; Gerald McLeod, Olivia McLeod, Mike & Cathy Arsenault, and Bruce Steiner, and his dog Jack.
Bill was born on March 19, 1960 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario to Arthur & Lois Murdoch. Bill was the only son in the family and a brother to four sisters. Bill was their greatest protector. Bill and his family lived in Ontario until 1966 when he and his family relocated to Regina, Saskatchewan. Throughout his childhood and early adulthood, Bill enjoyed playing sports where he excelled in both baseball and hockey. Bill became a father at a young age to his two boys Wayne and Chad. Bill met the love of his life, Teresa, in Regina in 1986 where he immediately took on the role of being a father to her four young children. Together they shared six children. They resided there until 1987 where they then relocated to Tisdale briefly before calling The Pas, MB their home in 1988.
Bill was a jack of all trades. He worked as a butcher for many years prior to his employment with Greene’s Construction. He worked in the construction field for 18 years prior to being forced to leave manual labour due to a work injury. Up until he became ill, Bill was employed with the Grub Box who were very good to him, and he would often speak highly of them. Bill loved his grandchildren dearly and often spoke of how proud he was of all of them. Bill also had a love for animals, especially his dog ‘Jack’ whom he considered his ‘best pal’. Bill was also known to be humorous. Even during his illness, despite the challenging days he faced, he often showed his witty sense of humor; often giving his healthcare providers a good chuckle.
In keeping with his wishes, a cremation will take place with a celebration of life planned in the summer months at his daughter’s home at Clearwater Lake with a burial to follow at Lakeside Cemetery in The Pas, MB.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a local animal or homeless shelter of your choice.
We, Bill’s family, wish to thank his amazing Palliative Care Coordinator and Nurse, Jana Harmes, for the wonderful care provided to him during his illness while at home. We would also like to thank the homecare nurses, Dr. Nathan Coleman & Dr. Kadirah Lupitasari, and other medical providers for their compassionate care provided to him during his illness. As well, thank you to family and friends for your unconditional love and support shown to our family during this difficult time.
