It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of ‘oor dear auld Da’, Bill Madden, on Wednesday February 5th in his 80th year. He is predeceased by his lovely wife and our wonderful mum, Annie. A very cherished Pops to Heather (Jeff), Brian (Heidi), Jamie (Kate), and beloved ‘Grandee’ (Papa) to Billy, Hannah, Jace and the family dog, Otis. He was a loved brother/ brother-in-law, uncle and friend to many in Canada and Scotland. A true son of Scotland, our Pops immigrated to Canada from Scotland in 1966 with his good pal Jimmy, and Scotland always remained in his heart and his mind.
Our dad was truly one of a kind. There was always a crowd around him, enjoying his sharp wit, unparalleled humour and the constant twinkle in his eye. He was a selfless man of honesty, humility and generosity and always put his three kids and grandkids above all else. A very intelligent man, our dad would read several books a week and was always educating us in facts he had picked up along the way—there wasn’t much in this world that our Pops hadn’t read about or somehow knew something about it.
A special thanks to the wonderful staff, managers, directors, leaders and physicians at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton who provided exemplary care and compassion to both our dad and us. We are eternally grateful.
At our dad’s wishes, there will be a private family service, and a celebration of his life will be set later on in the year. Dad- we bid you well, tell Mum we love her.
We’ll meet again, don’t know where, don’t know when, but we know we’ll meet again some sunny day.
