Wilfred Meadus of St. Jones Within, NL
October 11, 1950 – February 2, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce Wilf’s passing. Wilf passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife, children and brother at Sault Area Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario on February 2nd.
He will be me missed dearly by his loving wife and best friend of 51 years, Yvonne. He was the eldest son of the late Calvert and Lucy Meadus. Brother to Lindo Meadus (Kim) who was a kindred spirit and more often than not, knew what Wilf was thinking even before he did. He was a loving father to sons Bradley and Andrew who worked with him daily and were proud to have followed in the footsteps of an extraordinary, hardworking man. Father to daughter Karen Lefave (Greg) who he loved dearly and always reminded her how much she was loved and how proud he was of her. He was the most wonderful Pop to his Grand-daughters, Charlie and Georgia who were the center of his world. Brother-in-law to Sandra (Lorne), Les (Maureen), Melvin, Ed (Julie), and Edgar (Alice). To the many nieces and nephews who looked up to Wilf like a second father, he loved you as much as you loved him.
Wilf was known as a genuine, salt of the earth, authentic, and fun-loving man. He emulated the simplest of lifestyles and radiated happiness to everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. With his big smile and infectious laughter, he was always up for a joke, and believed that nothing in life should ever be taken too seriously. His generosity to both friends and strangers knew no bounds and he never needed nor wanted recognition for helping others.
His passion was his boat, The Dominion Sea, and fishing. There was nothing more fulfilling to Wilf than a hard day’s work and often said “if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.”
Special thanks to 3B staff at Sault Area Hospital including Andrew, Deanna, Marina, Colleen, Sarah, Erica, Dr. White, Dr Dawson, Dr. Booth, Dr Tozer, and Dr. Apostle. You all demonstrated care, curtesy, and compassion to a dying man in his final days and that is something our family will never forget. More importantly, thanks for giving in to his requests for extra hugs. Friends and Family are invited to a Celebration of Life “Come and Go” at the Community Center in St. Jones Within on Saturday, February 8th from 12:00 noon to 4pm. As per Wilfs wishes, a cremation has taken place. An inurnment will be held at a later date. Given his immense love of his granddaughters, Wilf would have wanted memorial donations in his honor to go to The Twinkie Foundation.
