Wendelin John Walz was born on June 22, 1927, to Nicholas and Katherine Walz. He was the 6th of 16 children. Wendelin spent his childhood living on the family farm south of Cosine.
Wendelin worked for numerous farmers and in the Columbia Icefield. He eventually purchased the family farm where he farmed until retiring and settling into Macklin.
Wendelin married the love of his life, Leona Walz, on October 3, 1961. They were married for 63 wonderful years. They were blessed with three children, Mervin and Ervin in 1963, then Garry in 1964.
Wendelin passed away on February 22, 2025, at the Provost Health Center at the age of 97 years.
Wendelin leaves to mourn, his loving wife, Leona; Mervin (Lisa) and their children, Garrett and Mckenna (Kelly) with great grandchild, Rome; Ervin and his children, Shelby (François), Corey (Nicole) with great grandchildren, Ruger and Regan; Garry and his children, Brittney (Cole), Gavin (Elicia), Michelle (Dylan).
He was predeceased by parents, Katherine and Nicholas Walz; and brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be held for Wendelin on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Macklin, Saskatchewan with Father Santhosh Thekkekulam officiating. Interment to follow at the Lakeview Cemetery in Macklin, Saskatchewan. If travelling from Alberta, please allow for one hour time change.
