In Loving Memory of Wayne Ewing Kyle
With broken hearts, we share that Wayne Ewing Kyle was called to heaven on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, just one day before his 75th birthday. After showing incredible courage and strength throughout his journey with cancer, he left this world surrounded by love.
Wayne was born on September 10, 1950, in St. Catharines, Ontario. As a teenager, he moved to Port Perry, where fate led him to the love of his life, Marlene (née Podres). From that moment on, they built a life together that spanned 54 years of marriage—a love story that was timeless and true, and one that will never end.
Wayne was so proud of his daughters, Jennifer (Jay) and Nicole (Steve), and nothing brought him greater joy than being “Poppi” to his grandchildren Mateo, Kennedy, Tyler, and Emily. They were his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment with them, cheering them on from hockey arenas to dance shows and horse shows to skateparks, he was one of their biggest fans. Waiting in heaven for his embrace is his precious baby girl Jessica, who now finally gets to meet her Daddy.
He will also be deeply missed by his brother Fred (Marilyn) and remembered with love by his many nieces and nephews. Wayne was predeceased by his parents (Fred and Jessie) sister Beverly (Gary), whom he now joins in eternal rest.
Throughout his life, Wayne wore many hats—EMT, OPP officer, Receiver Trustee in hospitality, and, in retirement, a school bus driver for STC Bus Line. Driving the bus gave him a new sense of joy and purpose. He loved hearing stories from the kids, and they, in turn, adored him.
At home, his loyal dog Doogie was his quiet companion, always ready to lift his spirits and keep him company, especially on the tough days.
Wayne’s family will be forever grateful to Dr. Ali Morelli, Dr. Evan Brien, the caregivers at PRHC and the incredible nursing staff at Peterborough Hospice who cared for him with such warmth and compassion.
A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Ashburnham Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to12:00 p.m. followed by a service. A private family internment will take place at Prince Albert Pine Grove Cemetery in Port Perry with reception afterwards at Nicole and Steve’s home, please contact family for details.
Wayne will be remembered for his unwavering strength, humor, outgoing nature and kindness. He leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and laughter that will carry on in every heart that knew him.
