Wayne Ivan Honsberger of Collingwood passed away peacefully and suddenly, surrounded by his loving family at Campbell House Hospice on Monday January 6, 2025. Wayne was the loving husband of 58 years of Lola Honsberger (nee Billinger). Cherished father of Lisa Dyck (David). Treasured grandfather of Faith Dyck and Austin Dyck. Wayne was born in Creemore on May 21, 1944, to Earl Honsberger and Nellie (nee Weatherall). Loving brother of June Cole (late Alvin), Betty Banks (Ron) and sister-in-law Wendy Byng (Ralph). He will be greatly missed by his nieces, nephews, cousins and many acquaintances. Predeceased by his parents, his sisters Velma Talbot (Del), Ruby Honsberger, his brothers Lorne Honsberger (Mary), Vernie Honsberger (Gertie) and brother- in- law John Allan.
Wayne and Lola met at a dance at the Birchmount Arena in Scarborough. The two eventually united in marriage in 1966. Together, they shared many happy memories. Wayne loved to snowmobile and polish his antique car. He enjoyed many conversations with all who knew him. He loved being a grandpa and adored his grandchildren who he loved spending time with.
Arrangements entrusted to the Chatterson Funeral Home, Collingwood. A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held at the Collingwood Legion, 490 Ontario Street, on February 22, 2025, from 2-4pm.
