Today we are with heavy hearts as we mourn the passing of Wayne Henry Fitzpatrick, who passed away on April 6th, 2025 in his 74th year.
Wayne was the cherished, and loving father to daughters, Katie and Kara Fitzpatrick (Matthew Reid), the beloved grandfather to Ian, William, Lily, Robyn and Penelope. He remained the dear, long-time confidant to the mother of his children, Jean Fitzpatrick. Wayne also leaves behind beloved brother Garry Fitzpatrick (preceded Millie Fitzpatrick). He is preceded by parents, Sydney and Winifred Fitzpatrick, and sister Sandra (Fitzpatrick) La Belle.
He enjoyed having many long conversations with his family, sharing his life stories and aged wisdom. He would often speak about his younger days on the golf course, time in the Laurentian Mountains, and spending many Sundays, after Mass in Montreal, at the home of his maternal grandparents with the rest of the Macdonald clan.
Wayne dedicated his later life to his daughter’s, and his grandchildren, creating so many beautiful memories for us to hold and cherish through these difficult times and for all our days.
He loved to be by the water, whether it was by his pool listening to the morning birds or by the Lake at Golden Beach visiting with friends, neighbors and beloved family. He also very much enjoyed chats with neighbors around his long-time residence in Port Hope, ON.
He was a proud citizen, Maple Leafs fan, and GM retiree. Wayne was also very proud of his recovery and enjoyed living a sober life. He never missed an opportunity to inspire others that they could do the same.
A public service will be held to celebrate Wayne’s life, at Ross’ Funeral home, 135 Walton Street, Port Hope ON L1A 1N4 on Thursday, April 17th, 2025 at 11am.
We want to thank all community members of Northumberland who supported him in his life and all those who are supporting us now, as we face this most difficult time.
Wayne wished for a life of health, wealth and giving.
