Obituary of Wady Joseph El-Khoury
It is with sadness that the family of Wady El-Khoury announces his passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at the age of 75. Born in Niha, Lebanon, on October 18, 1949, he was the son of the late Youssef and Watfa (Khoury) El-Khoury.
Wady leaves behind, brothers, Albert (Lucie), Gabriel and Pierre El-Khoury, all of Fredericton; sisters, Salem Tibbet (Fred) of Toronto, ON, Charlotte Debly and Yvonne Fahd of Ottawa, ON; nephews and nieces, Youssef, Daniel (Tiffany), André and Nadia El-Khoury (Francis Rioux), Justin Weir, Jason (Megan), Sandra (Jake Bryden), Michael and Alexa El-Khoury (Kyle Blacquier), Julianna and Diane Tibbet (Jorge Orozco), Karam Debly (Larra), Sheila Magnus (Matthew), Chantal (Zam) and John Fahd; great-nephews and nieces, Zoe, Mila, Jonathan and Sophia El-Khoury, Jonathan Tibbet, Francis, Louis and Helena Debly, Tyler and Austin Magnus, Ellie Rioux; his daughter, Marie-Josée McGraw; grandchildren, Rafaelle and Emmanuel McGraw; as well as a large extended family; In addition to his parents, Youssef and Watfa, Wady was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Louis Debly; uncles, Antonius, George, Karam and Joseph; aunts, Mariana, Amaline, Ilmoza, Marsha, Siltoni, Marine, Sally and Mary, uncles, Percy, Tom, Albert, Abe and Charlie Khoury; aunt, Sabina Khoury;
Wady was born in Niha, Batroun, Lebanon. He migrated with his family when he was a toddler to Guadeloupe, France. He immigrated again with his family to Fredericton as a teenager where he attended high school. He studied Civil Engineering and Math at the University of Moncton. After graduation he worked at various construction firms. In 1979 he worked as a Project Manager at the Department of Supply and Services for the provincial government of New Brunswick. Wady worked on hospitals, schools, courthouses, Department of Natural Resources, Department of Transportation, Fisheries, Agriculture and Tourism infrastructure. As a project manager for a wide variety of projects he was very knowledgeable. He resolved problems efficiently and effectively resulting in successful project completion.
Wady was a generous and kind man who often shared his construction insights with his friends and family. No matter how small the job, Wady would share detailed advice to ensure that the jobs were done properly.
Wady loved spending time with his family and enjoyed his great-nieces and nephews. He also enjoyed travelling to Gaudeloupe and Lebanon. He never lost touch with his roots and his Faith.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital for the compassion and care shown to Wady.
A visitation will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home on Friday, March 7 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Charbel’s Maronite Catholic Church on Saturday, March 8 at 11:00 AM with Fr. Toni El Helou as celebrant. For those who wish, donations in Wady’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
