Obituary
It is with heavy hearts and precious memories, the family of David Foley announce his passing on January 21st, 2025, at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John’s. Predeceased by his parents, William (Bill) Foley and Ellen (Eileen) (Martin) Foley.
Leaving to celebrate his life and cherish his memory, his loving wife of 32 years Donna (nee Cleary); children: Sara (Dmitry), Stephanie, Shauna and Grandson Atlas; Sister Bonnie (Ron); sisters-in-law Denise Cleary (David), Debbie Dillon (Dennis) and brother-in-law Stephen Cleary (Diana): nieces Melissa and Amanda; nephews Alex and Adam, and extended family members and friends.
David, commonly known as ‘Fole’ or ‘Foley’ was a kindhearted man who put everyone before himself. His career at NL Hydro spanned 38 years. Not long after retirement, he returned to work part time to help because that’s who he was.
David wasn’t someone who liked being the center of attention, he would rather stand back to take it all in. He loved to chat and everywhere he went he knew at least one person. He loved telling stories of his Mom and Dad, how he grew up, and most importantly his “ball” days.
Fole loved watching baseball, curling, hockey, football (his team was the Steelers) or pretty much any sport you can think of. His one rule was – If you already watched the game, don’t tell him the score because he recorded it to watch later.
His girls were his Everything. He took care of them their whole lives. He wouldn’t have had it any other way. He will be greatly missed by his girls, family, and friends. Now David’s Mom and Dad are there to welcome him with open arms.
Visitation will take place at Caul’s Funeral Home, 84 LeMarchant Road on Sunday January 26th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held at Caul’s Chapel on Monday, January 27th, at 9:30am, with inurnment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Columbarium.
