It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Vivian Carol Cleland on February 17th, 2025, at the age of 98.
Carol as she preferred to be called, was born and raised in Copper Cliff, Ontario, where she lived with her parents Hettie and Charles Orville Maddock (both predeceased) and with her sisters Elizabeth “Bett” Byers (Graham)(both predeceased) and Harriet McMorran (Doug). After her marriage to Roy Stewart Cleland (pre-deceased), Carol lived in many Northern Ontario communities before eventually returning to Sudbury. Eventually Carol reunited with an old school friend, Bill Prince (predeceased), and together the spent many summers at her cottage on the Windy Lake and winters in Florida. Carol enjoyed gardening, volunteering at the Memorial Hospital gift store and playing budge several times per week.
Carol is survived by her son, Richard (Janet), her sister Harriet (Doug), plus several nephews and nieces.
A private family interment at the Maplecrest Cemetery in Dowling will be held at a later date.
