Virginia (Ginny) Joan Hildebrant
November 3,1941 – March 24, 2025
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Virginia (Ginny) Joan Hildebrant (Cornwall), born November 3, 1941 in Bonnicks Gate – Rushlake Green, East Sus, England. Daughter of the late Phyllis Joan Hobden and Francis Albert Edward Cornwall, her parents met during WW2 when her father was stationed in London, England as a Signalman in the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals.
Ginny was four years old when she arrived in Canada with her mother. Over the course of her lifetime Ginny enjoyed keeping connected to her British family; she was greatly loved and missed by all her numerous English aunts, uncles and cousins.
Ginny who was married to the late Marty Hildebrant for a golden fifty years spent the majority of her life in the heart of Tillsonburg where together they raised three children; son Randy Hildebrant (Janet), daughter Anne DeCraemer (Mark) and son Terry (Gump) Hildebrant (Cindy).
Ginny found joy in her role as grandmother to Devon DeCraemer, Delaine DeCraemer (Matt),
Duncan DeCraemer (Felipe), Darley DeCraemer, Cody Hildebrant (Amanda), Brooke Hildebrant (Cam), Courtney Juskiewicz (Rob), Claudia Hildebrant and Tyler Hildebrant (Maddy). She was thrilled to recently become a great grandma to Claire Juskiewicz.
Ginny is survived by her brother Rick Cornwall (the late Val Letros), sister Brenda Curtis (the late Stephen Curtis), sister Kelly Ellis (the late Phil Ellis), brother Kevin Cornwall, sister-in-law Connie Cornwall. She is predeceased by sisters Gayle Cornwall, Jackie Pulham (the late Dan Pulham) and predeceased by her brothers Bob and John Cornwall.
In her professional life, Ginny worked many years for the Bank of Montreal and Johnson Controls. Her interests and hobbies were a reflection of her zest for life and deep love for her family. Ginny loved bingo, casino outings and was an ardent reader (especially mystery books). She enjoyed baking for the holidays, making jams for family and a spirited game of euchre!
An avid traveler, Ginny enjoyed exploring new places. She especially liked road trips, camping, picnics and creating memories chasing around grandchildren with her husband Marty.
Ginny was a highly skilled knitter, crocheter and sewer making many sweaters, hats and mittens over her lifetime. Each stitched with love and care, Ginny crafted home décor items, custom clothes and numerous Halloween costumes for her grandchildren.
Being proudly British, Ginny did however decide to become a full Canadian citizen in 1979. Ginny loved to research her family tree/history, following the Royals and collecting fairy figurines for hopes of love and magic in everyday life.
Ginny’s cheeky personality, strong sense of family togetherness and positive attitude in the face of personal challenges will be deeply missed by her family and relatives.
Cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will be held at the Tillsonburg Cemetery.
