Virginia passed away on March 23, 2025 with family at her side. She died of natural causes at the age of 95.
She is predeceased by her parents Ella Arendt and Harvey W. Hagen, her beloved husband, Peter, her dear sister Elaine Hill (Lou) and her youngest son, John. She is survived by two sons, Peter Kim of Campbellville, Mark and his wife, Regis of London. She will be sorely missed by her Personal Care Worker Wajeeha Abbas, who has been by her side daily for months. She is also survived by a brother in law, two cousins and many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
Married life began in Drayton for 4 years, then Bracebridge where her first son Kim was born, then to Toronto (North York) where Mark and John were both born. They moved to London for Western University for 20 years, Virginia then accompanied Peter to Winnipeg after he retired from Western University as his executive assistant at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada. After 10 years in Winnipeg, they returned to Baden, to the Foxboro community. The last move was to Luther Village on the Park in Waterloo.
Virginia was a very supportive spouse throughout Peter’s career. She entertained many, many staff and grad students, and did a lot of typing; a lot. They were always very happy and very busy raising their three lads.
Virginia loved music, from classical and her favourite composers Bach and Handel, to dance music, and everything in between. She loved to sing in choirs and wedding during her teen years, played piano and organ at churches on Sundays. Both church and daily devotions were important to her.
Virginia and Peter were fortunate to enjoy the grand tour of Europe, many cruises, and trips to Florida, but were happiest just being together.
Virginia lived her life full of love for her family and friends and will always be remembered by those whose lives she touched with grace, beauty, kindness and laughter.
