Churchill, Violet Mae, 103, of Gladys Manning, Windsor, formerly of Scotch Village and Hantsport, N.S. passed away peacefully on Feb. 24, 2025, in the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born January 6, 1922, in Upper Burlington, she was a daughter of the late David “Abner” and Mary (Hayes) Barkhouse and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Violet is survived by her son Harley (Cheryl) Rhodes, Lockhartville Road, grandsons Stephen (Judy) Sanford, Bradley (Carla) Sanford, Brodie (Adara) Rhodes; great grandchildren Nathan (Elizabeth) Sanford and Angie Sanford, great-greatgrandchildren Brenna, Dexter, Madison and nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents Violet was predeceased by her first husband James Rhodes (1956) and her second husband Winston Churchill (2001) her daughter Shirley (Sanford) Ruggles and her 12 siblings.
A special thankyou to Beverly Crowell and Michael and Darlene Mosher for their years of continuous care and support of Violet as well as to the Doctors and nurses on the 200 wing.
A graveside committal service will take place in late April or early May (will be posted here later) in the Riverview Haven Cemetery, Brooklyn.
Donations can be made to the Newport Baptist Church, Scotch Village or charity of choice.
