It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Veronica Anne Robson (née Dawson), who passed away quietly at home in the early hours of December 30, 2024, just a few days before her 78th birthday. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 58 years, Keith, her children Alison, Bruce, and Charlotte, daughter-in-law Kari, and grandchildren Rachel, and Braden. Veronica was predeceased by her mother Agnes, her father Horace, and her brother Paul. Veronica was born in Louth, Lincolnshire and lived in several places in the United Kingdom, including Birmingham, Dunstable, Rugby, and the Village of Ufford, near Stamford, Lincolnshire, before emigrating to Toronto with her young family, in the late seventies. Veronica always had a great spirit and energy. As a young adult, she could be found in her parents’ front room with friends practicing her twist and rock and roll moves for the Saturday dance at the Town Hall, riding bikes to Mablethorpe and getting sunburned, and later, accompanying Keith to important College and University events when he was President of the Guild of Students. This would later translate to her support at business events throughout his career, where she also thrived. She spent 25 plus years working as an administrator in the education system, in various schools in Hamilton-Wentworth region, and as part of the Hamilton Transportation Committee, but most of her years were at the Etobicoke School of the Arts. She was passionate about ESA, its staff, students and the arts in general. Her kind heart and generous spirit made her a soft landing place for many students in need, whether they just needed a kind word of encouragement, a shoulder to cry on, or in some cases a place to sleep for a night or two. She also worked in the library in addition to the main office, and contributed to many productions, sewing costumes, printing programmes, and more. In addition to her sewing, she also enjoyed knitting and stained glass. She loved to travel all over the world with her husband Keith, and they enjoyed many adventures together. She was a proud Mother and Grandmother and would talk the ear off anyone who would listen when it came to her children and grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honour her on Saturday January 18, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, with spoken words at 2:00 pm, which will be livestreamed on the website, at Circle of Life Cremation and Burial Centre, 100 King Street East, Dundas Ontario (additional parking at the Air Force Club). The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hamilton Foodshare in honour of Veronica.
