Obituary of Veronica Ann Hampton
With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Veronica Ann Hampton. Veronica lost her battle with a very rare form of cancer suddenly on December 20, 2024 with her family by her side. From her diagnosis this July she bravely fought this battle right until the end with her beautiful and contagious smile. Veronica had a love of life and her family was her whole world. She will be missed beyond words.
Veronica was born in Paddington, England to John and Judy Hampton on May 14, 1953. Shortly after, her family moved to Montrose, Scotland to live with her grandmother, Nora Hampton. When Veronica was 3 years of age, her family boarded the ship and moved to Canada where she grew up until 1972.
She married in 1972 in Bagotville, Quebec and later moved to the United States and obtained her American Citizenship. As part of the US Navy her and Gene lived in Colorado and Arkansas until moving to Kansas and that was home for many years. She moved back to Canada later in life with her daughter, Kelli and was her inseparable best friend for life.
Veronica worked various job roles over her lifespan, her longest career being over 25 years as a nursing assistant in the Chilliwack General Hospital. Each role Veronica had she brought so many smiles to, she was the light of the room and always made others feel valued and loved. Veronica made friends no matter where she went and never passed an opportunity to tell her family she loved them. We will deeply miss her Facebook messages, her Jib Jab photos and being the rock we always needed and knew she would be for us. There was never a moment she would put herself first, she was always willing to do whatever it took for her family and close friendships.
Veronica was a long-time member of the Chilliwack Anavets Unit 305 and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. The last couple years she became a member of the FSJ Seniors Hall. All of which she made lasting friendships and enjoyed her time in all.
Veronica leaves behind her daughter/best friend, Kelli Ann McRoberts, grandchildren Justin Tyler McRoberts/Sidney McRoberts and Lauryn Faith McRoberts. Her sister, Wendy Carol Hampton and brother Glenn Hampton, sister-in-law, Gabby Hampton. She leaves behind her longtime companion Don Thomson and Wendy’s grandchildren Ailish and Rhonan Hampton.
She was predeceased by her parents, John Blackie Hampton and Judy Alberta Hampton in 2005.
Take the love you have for me
And radiate it outwards
Allowing it to touch and impact others
Take the memory you have of me
And use it as a source of inspiration
To live fully, meaningfully and intentionally
Take the image you have of me in your mind
And allow it to fuel you
To take action
Seize the day
And be reminded of what is most important in life
Take the care you have for me
And let it remind you
To care for yourself fully
And shower yourself with your own love
And take the pain and grief you feel
Following my loss
And alchemize it into
Love, compassion and beauty
Build a castle
From the wreckage of my passing
And allow it to unlock your greatness and potential
And empower you to become more than you ever thought you were capable of being
And know that I can never truly leave you
And will always remain beside you
Watching over you in spirit
And that the love I have for you lives on
Through the connections you form
The kindness and compassion you share
And the future relationships and friendships you cultivate.
And until we are one day reunited I will remain with you
Through the storms and chaos of life
And am always beside you
Walking with you, laughing with you, crying with you and smiling with you
And I am proud of you for being strong I am proud of you for being brave
And I am proud of you for being you. -Unknown author
Love you mom, until we see each other again – Kelli
