Verna Mae Wallace Obituary
Verna Mae Wallace passed peacefully to her home with the Lord on Tuesday December 31, 2024 at the age of 91. She will be greatly missed by her husband John, married 68 years, and children Wendy Frost (Larry), Lynn Bierworth (Stephen), Nancy Lianga (Vic), Mark Wallace (Pat), Susan Urban and 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her sisters Eileen Moore (Ellis), Mary Colyn (John), Ruth James (Charles) and brother Clark Hannah (Barb) and sister-in-law Jean Hannah. She was predeceased by her brother Barry and by her parents, Charlie and Edith Hannah.
Verna was born in Tyndall, Manitoba and came to Niagara as a child where her parents settled in Tintern. She married John Wallace in 1956 and lived in Vineland, Kingston, Carrying Place, Wellandport and Bancroft, Ontario where she lovingly raised five children and was the supportive wife of a carpenter and minister.
Verna had a strong faith in God and lived to do His will. She was a faithful member of the Smithville Church of Christ. She enjoyed the women’s bible classes where she at age 90 led the women in singing. She was the definition of humility, caring for and loving each person she met. She served selflessly and was an organized, efficient and frugal supporter her family and the causes she believed in. It gave her great joy to create and gift her sewing, knitting, cross stitching, painting, stamping and cards to friends, family and acquaintances. She was a founding member of Choices Thrift that supported many healthcare initiatives in the Bancroft area.
She will be dearly missed but we look forward to seeing her again!
Funeral services have been entrusted to Tallman Funeral Homes. Visitation will take place Saturday, January 4th at 1:30 p.m. at the Vineland Chapel (3277 King St.) Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Snure Cemetery in Jordan. Join Verna’s family and friends in the Fireside room following the service.
