BOUDREAU, Venard Joseph, 87 of Petit de Grat
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Venard Joseph Boudreau of Petit de Grat. Venard died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at the Strait Richmond Hospital on September 5, 2025.
Born in Petit de Grat on October 19, 1937, Venard was the son of the late Jeantie Helaire and Mary Felicity (Samson) Boudreau. Venard loved his home community of Petit de Grat. He worked at sea all of his life, was an active member of the CAW and retired as the Chief Engineer on the Anne C Spencer. Venard was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. Venard loved the simple things in life. He loved camping with his family and did so for 53 years, enjoyed meeting new people while on the road, loved campfires, enjoyed playing a game of cards with family and friends, and loved dancing. Venard loved his game shows! More recently, Venard enjoyed playing pool at the legion and attending card plays with his best friend and cousin, Claude Boudreau. Venard loved spending time with his family and extended family and welcomed all into our home.
Venard is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Mary Elizabeth “Kavanaugh” Boudreau, Petit de Grat; daughters Cathy Boudreau (Kelly), Sydney Forks, and Angela Currie (Shawn), Lower Sackville; grandchildren Brett Currie (Heather) and Bella Stephens (Seth); Godchildren Michael Chuck Egillson, June Fougere, Evan Richard, Jennifer Glennie, Jeff Healy and Glenn Fougere.
Besides his parents, Venard was predeceased by his daughter in infancy Deborah Ann; grandson Matthew Currie; brother Alzear Boudreau (Freda); sisters Zita Boudreau (George), Clarisse Samson (Sylvester), Edwina Boudreau, Leah Bond (Armand);nephew Derek DiPersio; parents-in-law William and Mary Catherine (Whitty) Kavanaugh.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 17th at C. H. Boudreau Funeral Home Ltd. in Arichat from 2-4pm & 6-8pm. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, September 18th at St. Joseph’s Church in Petit de Grat at 11am with Rev. Duaine Devereaux officiating. Burial to follow in Star of the Sea Cemetery. A reception will follow in the St. Joseph’s Parish Hall, Petit de Grat. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Parish or to the Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C. H. Boudreau Funeral Home Ltd in Arichat.
