Vasilios “Bill” Theodoropoulos (Theos), aged 92, originally from Niki, Greece, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on his birthday, January 1st, New Year’s Day, in Windsor, Ontario.
A devoted husband, father, and cherished Dedo, Vasilios – known by many as “Bill” – was a beacon of light to everyone who knew him. His laughter filled every room, his heart knew no bounds, and he was the life of every party he walked into.
Vasilios is now reunited with his son John, and siblings Rouza, Paul, and Anastasia and his dog Ozzie in heaven. He leaves behind his loving wife and soulmate of 70 years, Tessie Theodoropoulos, his three beloved children, Jenny (Patrick), Anthony (Denise), and Angela (Michal), and his sister Velika (Jimmy) will forever carry forward his legacy of kindness and witty humour. His grandchildren Emilie (Bryce), Cailey, Maggie, Kaira, and Luke were the pride and joy of his life.
Born on January 1, 1933, in Niki, Greece, to his beloved parents Stavros and Angelina Theodoropoulos in the village of Negochani, province of Makedonia, Greece, Vasilios moved to Melbourne, Australia, in 1951. There, he married the love of his life, Tessie, in 1958. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising four children before immigrating to Canada in 1973 where he worked a proud 20 years of service in the kitchen at Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital. Known for his contagious laughter and vibrant energy, Vasilios will be remembered for his daily rounds visiting friends and family, his regular status at Tim Hortons and McDonald’s, flourishing vegetable garden, and his passion for Macedonian history and storytelling, always eager to share the latest news with anyone willing to listen.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 5th from 1-4 PM with prayers taking place at 4 PM at Families First Funeral Home 3260 Dougall Ave, South Windsor. On Monday January 6, 2025 visiting will resume from 10-10:30 AM burial to follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Harmony In Action.
Vasilios’ legacy is a reminder to live life to the fullest, laugh often, and always see the glass half full. He will be deeply missed but forever celebrated.
