Tryphena “Triffie” Muggridge (Bowen) passed peacefully away at Lakeside Homes on Thursday, January 30th, 2025, at age 91.
Predeceased by parents William & Susannah Bowen as well as her husband James “Jim” Muggridge to whom she was married for 53 years.
She was born and raised in Red Cliffe, Bonnavista Bay, NL, but spent most of her adult life in Gander, NL where she and Jim raised their two children, Wayne (Sheena Caines) and Valerie (Brent Mason). Remembered lovingly as “Nan” or “Nanny Gridge” by her three granddaughters, Susannah, Alicia, and Emily as well as her three great grandchildren.
She was an active member of the St. Martin’s Anglican Church for many years and enjoyed singing hymns in the choir and around her home. She loved to socialize and delighted in playing bingo and cards, even if she “had a hand like a foot”. Rarely did she ever miss an episode of The Young & the Restless in the afternoon or Jeopardy in the evening. Triffie was part of a large circle of family and close friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. We are forever grateful to the team of staff at Lakeside Homes for providing her with compassionate care in her final years.

Stacey’s Funeral Home in Gander, NL will host visitation on Wed., Feb 5th, 2025 from 1:00 – 2:00pm. The funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00pm, after which she will be laid to rest at All Saints Cemetery.
Family and friends are welcome to return to Stacey’s Funeral Home afterwards for refreshments and shared memories of Triffie.
