Tony Charlton Obituary
Charlton, Tony Roy
It was a beautiful, sunny day on Thursday February 20, 2025 when Dad passed from earth to eternity leaving behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, and the love of having a good time. While the world feels different to me today, I take comfort in knowing that he is no longer hindered by a body that did not allow him to live his life the way he wanted. He passed away in his sleep at the Oromocto Public Hospital.
Dad was born on May 20, 1953 in Fredericton Junction, NB to the late Roy and Geraldine (Wooden) Charlton. He will be missed by me, his daughter Kara (Kevin) Gruchy, his only sister Rose (Laverne) MacGougan, his 4 brothers; Danny (Vicki), Darrel (Brenda), Mark and Kelvin (Carol) Charlton, as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Along with his parents, Dad was predeceased by two brothers Phillip (2001) and Ricky (1958) Charlton.
Dad spent his working career as a skilled meat cutter, first with Tingley’s Save-Easy and later with Atlantic Superstore, where he worked until he had a stroke in 2006. If you didn’t know him as Tony it would have been either Huck or Chicken Legs, it seems our family is full of nicknames. Dad was also very involved in sports. He played hockey, was a fast pitch ball pitcher, bowled in several leagues over the years at both the Bowl-a-Drome and Kingswood Lanes, played golf, and horseshoes as well. He was also a car lover, with one of his favourites being a 1969 Acapulco Blue Chevelle. Most of all, Dad loved people.
Wherever there was a party you would be sure to find him there and he would often have his famous Swedish Meatballs!
Family and friends are invited to visitation at Sunbury Funeral Home on Sunday February 23, 2025 from 2-5 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Sunbury Funeral Home on Monday February 24, 2025 at 3 pm. With Pastor Rob Hanson officiating. Interment will take place in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dads memory can be made to the Oromocto SPCA. He loved his cat Timmy (pictured) and his new girl Jersey which he adopted from there.
Arrangements are in the professional care of Sunbury Funeral Home, Central Blissville, NB (506-368-2413). www.sunburyfuneralhome.com
