Obituary of Thomas Gerard McDonnell
It is with deep sadness that we announce the loss of Thomas Gerard McDonnell.
Beloved husband of Lori (nee Cantlon) of 46 years. Proud and loving father to his son, Scott and daughter-in-law, Irina. He will forever be missed by his siblings; brother, Jim (Judi), sister-in-law Wendy, Kevin (Kim), Pat (Judy), Kathy (Mike) Proksch and Heather.
Predeceased by his father, Jim, mother, Ruth and brother, Michael.
He will also be missed by his mother-in-law, Sharon Cantlon and sister and brother-in-law, Sandi and Brian Turner. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Tom loved his family and friends. He was well liked by everyone he met. He had a great sense of humor, quick wit and loved to tease. He was a hard worker, advancing positions at his two main jobs. He worked at La-Z-Boy for 25 years and Bauer/Heritage Hockey for 17 years. His lifelong passion for the Montreal Canadiens took himself, son, brother and nephews all over Canada and the United States to watch them play on the road. As an avid music fan he loved to attend live concerts including Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and Wings, AC/DC and The Who to name just a few. For many years he attended the “Good Timers” annual fishing trip with old high school buddies and other friends and family. He loved playing horseshoes there and imbibed in a few “wobbly pops”.
Special thanks to Dr. Stacey Hubay who was our rock for over seven years and the excellent staff at the Cancer Centre at Grand River Hospital.
At Tom’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place. If so desired, in Tom’s memory please send a donation to Grand River Cancer Centre or Canadian Cancer Society.
