Born in Toronto, Tom grew up in Newmarket with his mother and sisters. When Tom was 15, he went “adventuring” and spent two summers in the Northwest Territories, in Aklavik and in Inuvik, where he helped build the new city of Inuvik. It was because of that, he had an enduring love with the North and geography.
Tom and Eileen met at Thurstonia Park in the Kawarthas where their families spent summers. They were married in June 19, 1964, and lived in Toronto, Calgary, Regina, London and then their forever home in Glencoe.
Employed by the A.C. Nielsen’s company for over 30 years, Tom was the area manager for the entire Southwest Ontario area. He was a proud Glencoe Rotarian for many years and served in all the various positions. In the summer, he was also an honorary member of the Fenelon Falls Rotary Club. He was very honored at receiving Rotary’s Paul Harris award for his service. Tom also serviced on the Glencoe group committee for Scouts Canada for many years.
Tom loved boating, fishing, and enjoyed over 25 years of friendship and fellowship with his Fenelon Falls friends, flying into Nagagami Lake by Hornpayne, and he occasionally caught the biggest fish. Tom and Eileen spent over 35 years camping on Balsam Lake, boating, and enjoying friendship and fun.
According to Tom’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral. He wiil be interred in the Coboconk Cemetery beside Tommy at a later date . For the past three years, Tom has resided at the Babcock Nursing Care where he was wonderfully cared for and loved. We thank all the staff at Babcock, as well as Dr. Wu and the staff at Four Counties General Hospital, and for the long-term care of Tom by Dr.Bob Parnell.
