Thomas Shane Maloney Obituary
THOMAS SHANE MALONEY, a gentleman of the highest order, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025, in his 76th year. He left this world cradled in love, hand-in-hand with his wife of nearly 54 years, and surrounded by their four cherished children.
A proud son of Port Colborne, his voice will forever echo in the crashing waves of Lake Erie. Raised and steeped in the small-town values of kindness and compassion, everyone was welcome at his door or his table. He was, by turns, a dedicated community lawyer, a loving son and brother, a dependable neighbour, a loyal friend, a joyful uncle, and an encouraging coach. He was, at all times, a good and decent man, supporting charities and local efforts to lift up those living with intellectual disabilities and making this world a little better with his Irish charm, class and warm smile.
His greatest pride and fulfillment came from the family he built with the woman he loved since the age of 16. He is survived by his devoted wife, Colleen (née Cousineau), his adoring and deeply grateful children — Shannon Crumb (Russell), Kristen Cook, Lauren Kimber (Brook), and Ryan Maloney (Emily) — and seven grandchildren to carry forward his legacy: Connor and Cole Crumb, Samantha and Sullivan Cook, Rhys and Dane Kimber, and Owen Maloney. He is also survived by his siblings, Michael Maloney (Ilona), Mary Jane McCarey, John Maloney (Sherrie), Lynn Trevison (John), and Taralea McLean, as well his brother-in-law, Kevin Cousineau (Janet), and many much-loved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Mary Maloney, his son, Shane Thomas, his mother-in-law, Loretta Freeman (William), brother-in-law Gerald McCarey, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jean Ann and Larry Cousineau.
The Maloney family will receive visitors at the DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME, 135 Clarence St., Port Colborne on Friday, March 7 from 3-7 p.m with parish prayers at 2:30 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, in Port Colborne, on Saturday, March 8 at 11a.m., with Father Wieslaw (Wes) Woloszyn officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Thomas may be made to the Jumpstart Charities, which helps kids overcome financial barriers to sports and recreation.
