Thomas Ludlow Death Notice
November 5, 1933 – May 1, 2025
The children of Tom Ludlow are heartbroken to share the news of their father’s passing, peacefully at home in his 92nd year.
Heartwarming moments will be treasured forever as we say goodbye to a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Dearly loved by his wife Peggy and his children.
Our Dad was a man of many talents with an extremely creative mind. He was a master carpenter like his father. Tom’s career started in Leamington, erecting a new school. It was there he met his beautiful bride Peggy, for whom he spent the rest of his life moving mountains.
A dynamic couple who gave their family a life full of laughter and adventure.
Tom’s career then took him to Toronto where he worked for Dominion Stores building and remodelling, teaching his crew how to use their trade to build themselves a life.
To escape city life, Dad moved our family and we soon found a little piece of heaven in the Hockley Valley. Dad’s creations began with converting a cottage on stilts into a charming home.
An avid fisherman, like his father, he enjoyed trips to Sturgeon Falls, taking his family on annual camping & fishing adventures. He was drawn there year after year and soon purchased a historic one room school house in Trout Creek. This is where the magical talents of Dad truly came to life. Together our parents created the most unique home and business in the school house. Glen Roberts Tea Room & Steak House was established. It was truly a one of a kind, visited and loved from people all over the country and the world. Becoming a chef was Dad’s new talent. His brain never stopped creating and his workmanship as a builder was mindblowing. This was when Story Book Village came to life, our parents were simply amazing. A spot where families gathered and busloads of children came to experience the nursery rhyme themed park to climb, slide and tumble in this enchanting village. Dad loved kids and had a soft spot for those who were challenged, so he created rides that all children could enjoy.
It’s not every man that can be named a legend, but our Dad is. No one could ever forget that magical place.
His motto was “Always be kind to others and help those in need”. Which is a wonderful way to live your life.
Tom is predeceased by his parents Maxwell & Jean, brother Robert, daughter Rosemarie, grandson Bobby (son to Rob & Kerri) and son-in-law John Ashley (husband to Debbie Ashley).
Survived by his loving wife and dancing partner Peggy Ludlow (they really could cut-a-rug); His children: Debbie Ashley, Jill Latendre Langerud (Dave), Robin Morrison, Pam Ludlow (Dan), Rob Ludlow (Kerri); His grandchildren Aaron, Shyla, Ashley, Christopher, Sarah-Jane, Jessica, Kristina, Shelby & Cooper; Nine great-grandchildren Austin, Arden, Jaylin, Matthew, Westen, Ethan, Colton, Hudson and Max.
Tom will also be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law and thousands who were visitors to the unforgettable Glen Roberts.
“Tom’s cycle of life has come to an end but his legacy blossoms on”
KEEP DANCING PEGGY
As per Dad’s wish, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
