Thomas Fredrick Kerr Obituary
KERR, Thomas Fredrick (February 9, 1955 to March 27, 2025) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a long battle with illness. Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Rose-Marie Kerr; by his two children, James Kerr (Sarah Milner) and Jennifer Kerr (Richard Blakeman); by his five grandchildren Benjamin Bialek, Boudica and William Kerr, and Zoey and Rosie Blakeman; by his two brothers, Eldon (Diane) and Dennis (Ena) Kerr; and by his three sisters, Louise (Bob) McNutt, and Brenda (Mario) and Sherrie Kerr. He is also survived by countless nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Tom lived his whole life in Campbellford, Ontario, first as a dairy farmer and then as co-owner and operator of Kerr’s Corner Books and Frog’s Whiskers Ink with his wife, Rose-Marie. Tom was active in town life, and for over 30 years, he could be seen throughout Trent Hills opening many public events as the Town Crier. Even people who didn’t know Tom personally would recognize the sound of his bell and the blue velvet of his ensemble as he led countless Santa Claus parades, gave speeches at innumerable graduation ceremonies, and opened many a fairground. Tom was also head of the Business Improvement Area (BIA) for many years, and brought life to the BIA’s waterfront festival and cardboard boat races. The family would like to thank everyone in the community for their help and support over the years as Tom battled with his health, and our sincerest thanks go to the staff and volunteers at the Campbellford Memorial Hospital, the Peterborough Regional Health Centre, the Toronto General Hospital, and the Royal Canadian Legion. We would also like to offer our deepest gratitude to Connie Wilson, Tom’s personal support worker, for her excellent assistance in helping Rose-Marie care for Tom these last few years. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 12 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Campbellford Legion at 34 Bridge St. W. Remembrances will take place at 2:00 p.m. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
