Theresa Louise Rowe
Sydney
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Theresa Louise Rowe on Monday, December 23, 2024, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney on August 16, 1970, and in true Theresa fashion, she gave us a good story by being delivered in the driveway of Acadia Drive by her namesake, Aunt Theresa Campbell. She was the daughter of the late Sid and Shirley Louise (Redmond) Rowe.
Theresa was always there to support those who needed it, both in big and small ways, as demonstrated when she won the YMCA Peacemaker Award in 2023. When she wasn’t working as the multi-unit manager for the Subway restaurants throughout the CBRM or spoiling and cheering on her nieces and nephews, she was dedicating her time to organizations such as, Dreams Take Flight Cape Breton and the Ally Centre. If you asked her to volunteer, she was there. Really, if you asked her for anything, she’d be right over.
Theresa went out of her way to make people feel special and encourage them to achieve their dreams. She had a way of making everyone feel as if they knew her forever. Theresa had many close friends with whom she shared great memories and conversations over the years, many of whom we’d like to thank for your constant support over these last few weeks. Without you all we don’t know how we would have gotten through it. She fondly thought of you all and even when time flew, you could pick up with her like it was just yesterday.
Theresa is survived by her sisters, Karen Rowe (Bob Ratushny), Summerside PE and Alexis (Robert) Pertus, Sydney; sister-by-heart, Keri O’Brien, North Bay, ON; nieces, Ashley Pertus, Natascha (Joey) Richards and Allie Pertus (Josh McDonald); grandnieces, Peyton, Bethany and Kate; and grandnephews, Cruz and Jack.
She was predeceased by her brother, Little Sid.
A special thank you to the staff at both, the CBRH and QEII for your outstanding efforts, care and kindness shown to Theresa, family and friends over these last difficult weeks.
They say your mind will not always remember exactly what happened, but your heart will always remember how she made you feel.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sydney Memorial Chapel. A Celebration of Life will take place at the Membertou Sport & Wellness Centre, Upper Level, 95 Autwen Mas’l Awti, on Saturday, January 25th from 2-5 pm.
