Theresa Elizabeth Phillips Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Theresa Elizabeth Phillips, who left us on Tuesday, March 4th, 2025, at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital at the age of 82 years. Born in Tain, Scotland on September 21st, 1942, she was raised in Ship Cove and a resident of Cape St. George for most of her life.
Theresa is survived by: her loving husband, Basil Francis Phillips; her four children: Ashley James (Dale) Phillips, Virginia Mary (Louis) Duffenais, Clayton John (Donna) Phillips, and Tammy Lynn Phillips (Mike); her six grandchildren: Cassandra, Emma, Hailey, Ashton, Kisha, and Kyle; her three great-grandchildren: Adelle, Dallas, and Easton; and siblings: Sonny (Pat) Benoit, Paul (Donna) Benoit, George (Juanita) Benoit, Jean-Anne (Brian) Ruttan, Nicholas (Wanda) Benoit, Cecile (Tom) Rae, and Peter-Paul (Yvonne) Benoit; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was predeceased by: her father, James Benoit of Ship Cove, Newfoundland, and her mother, Janet (Sangster) Benoit of Tain, Scotland; and her sister Jerona (Carol) Rioux.
Theresa dedicated her life to her family and loved ones. Known for her kindness, strength, and sense of humor, she touched the lives of everyone she met. She loved playing darts and cribbage and usually kicked everyone’s a**! Theresa was an amazing cook and a loving mother, teacher, and wife. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her especially the love of her life Basil. She touched many hearts and will never be forgotten. She was the Best Mother a child could ask for.
Following her wishes cremation has taken place and a funeral service will be announced at a later date.
