It is with profound sadness that the family announces his passing on February 25, 2025, at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Hospital (DECH) after a period of failing health. Theo was born February 23, 1946, in Arnhem , Holland . He was the son of the late Albert & Elizabeth (Reÿnders) Peters. The family immigrated to Canada in March 1952. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Diane (LeBlanc) and their children Derek (Anna Wheeler, Marshall & Naomi Peters), Renee Erb (Dave, Lauren, Avery & Evan), Susan (Randy, Logan & Arleigh Watson) and Michael (Meghan Nevers, Benjamin & Rylie Peters and their mother Krista Motty).
He was pre-deceased by his parents, brother Albert, brother-in-law Ron Conley, brother-in-law Gerry McCarty and fur buddy Hershey. He is survived by his sisters Johanna Conley, Elizabeth McCarty, brothers Tony (Claudette) and John ( Beverly ), sister-in-law Doris LeBlanc (Blair Roze) and brothers-in-law Ronald LeBlanc (Nicole), Léonard LeBlanc (Marcella), Norman LeBlanc (Dorice) and Eugène LeBlanc (Liette), as well as many nieces and nephews.
Theo worked for 18 years as manager of Victory Meat Market alongside many family members. In 1980, Theo and Diane opened Peters Meat Market. They are grateful to their many loyal customers and dedicated staff over the 36 years they owned the business. Peters Meat Market is now in its 45th year of operation.
Deep gratitude extended to the wonderful care he received from Extra Mural, DECH doctors and nurses and the DVA staff. To our many friends and family we say thank you for your love and support.
A visitation will take place at the Delta Hotel Governors Room on Thursday, February 27th from 2pm to 4pm and from 6pm to 8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association New Brunswick (cmhanb.ca) and the Fredericton SPCA (frederictonspca.ca).
