Theodore (Ted) Béchamp Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Theodore (Ted) Béchamp. Ted passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on January 12th 2025 in Manoir Sacré-Coeur in Fort-Coulonge, Quebec. Born in Rouyn-Noranda, Ted led a full and meaningful life, cherished by all who knew him.
Ted was an entrepreneur and a man of many talents. Going away to Memphis, Tennessee to complete a diploma in lumber scaling to begin his long career, Ted had an ambitious spirit from the beginning. Eventually retiring as the proud co-owner of Calver Lumber Industries, where he spent many years building a successful business and providing for his family. In addition to his work in the lumber industry, Ted was an accomplished accountant and shared his knowledge as a professor at Algonquin College.
An avid outdoorsman, Ted enjoyed hunting, as well as fishing. He loved traveling with his wife, Lysanne, and had a special connection to the natural beauty of Alaska and British Columbia, which he often visited.
Sports played a significant role in Ted’s life. He was a passionate fan of hockey and football and, in his younger years, enjoyed playing baseball.
Ted’s generosity was well known. He was always ready to offer advice and lend a helping hand to those who needed it. Above all, Ted was devoted to his family—his wife Lysanne, daughters Audrey and Lisa, and grandchildren. Family was the center of his world, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, care, and selflessness.
Ted is predeceased by his parents; Leo Béchamp and Theresa Perry. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Lysanne Béchamp (nee Romain); daughters: Lisa (Bruce) and Audrey (Trent); grandchildren: Kurtis (Anie), Joel (Meg), Lara (Gareth) and Morgan; great-grandchildren: Kai, Quinn and Willow. Ted is also survived by his brothers: Bert (Cathy) and Ray (Lyne) and his sister Brenda (late Mike). Ted will be sadly missed dearly by his extended family and friends of his community.
The Béchamp family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff of Manoir Sacré-Coeur for their wonderful care. Special thanks to Dr. Alfayad for his compassion and support.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 17th 2025 in Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Waltham, Quebec at 11 a.m. Ted will be laid to rest in the parish cemetery at a later date.
Donations to the Manoir Sacré-Coeur Foundation or the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery Fund would be greatly appreciated by Ted’s family.
Ted’s memory will live on forever in the hearts and minds of those who loved him.
