Thane Kelly Obituary
It is with broken hearts and great sadness that the family announces the passing of Thane Joseph Kelly, which occurred on Wednesday, January 1st, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on August 19th, 1965, in Charlottetown, PEI, he is the son of Maurice and Edna Kelly. Thane worked as a Financial Advisor for many years. He was an avid sports fan which included slo-pitch softball, curling, hockey, especially the NY Islanders, and he loved spending time with his Hockey Night in Canada friends. His quick wit was matched only by his sense of humor, allowing him to deliver one-liners that had everyone laughing out loud. Despite facing numerous challenges with unwavering strength, Thane remained selfless, courageous and quietly determined, enduring a lot with no complaints. Family was most important to him and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Thane is survived by his loving and devoted wife Janice (Magennis) of 33 years; son Eric Kelly (Arianne); daughter Laura Kelly; brothers Stephen Kelly (Debbie) and Pat Kelly (Marsha); sisters Lisa Kelly (Billy) and Lynn Kelly; best friends Weldon Black (Joanne) and Martha MacLean; grand puppies Leo & Moose; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424) with visitation being held on Sunday, January 5th from 3 to 8 p.m. A Memorial Service will take place in the Fundy chapel on Monday, January 6th at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at a later date. Donations in memory of Thane may be made to the SJRH-Palliative Care Unit or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
