Terry McRae Obituary
Terry Lee McRae
June 24, 1963 – March 4, 2025
Without warning, at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre, our world changed with the devasting loss of Terry McRae.
Terry leaves so many to cherish his memory and those grateful for his endless love, his wife Lori, the boys, Don and Eric McEwen, his sisters Edie, Myrna (Kent), Brenda and brothers Dave (Leigh), Gary (Debbie) and sister-in-law Barb. Predeceased by his brother Eldon and parents Lucille and Eldie McRae. Dearly remembered by his treasured nieces and nephews, relatives and many friends, including his precious cat, Zeus.
Terry grew up and resided for many years on Muckles Creek in Clandeboye. All his kind, affectionate and fun-loving traits were inherited from the McRae family. Terry stories are abundant, as well as the memories of a life-well lived and a man well-loved.
Terry was always the first to initiate a welcoming hug or crack a joke. His friendly demeanor endeared him to so many, maintaining close relationships with classmates from grade one. His smile, enthusiasm and presence made a room feel lively and cheerful.
Terry was a gift to us as we made a home together in Petersfield. It was the gathering place for the community he loved. An NFL, Bomber or Jets game meant time for Buddies and Blues! Missed will be his constant and hilarious one-liners followed by a roar of laughter from his beloved garage.
In 2001 Terry started with Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure and continued to work tirelessly as the Selkirk’s Yard sub-foreman. “The Captain” was dedicated to the highways and was known to be a meticulous equipment operator. A vast number of laughable moments and long-lasting friendships were shared on his beat.
His curling achievements spanned from Juniors to 5 Manitoba titles. Terry excelled in the competition and comradery of the game. He was especially proud of coaching the Petersfield Junior Men’s Team, competing under difficult circumstances, in the ‘07 Provincial Championship. Aboriginal Curling bonspiels meant time for Terry to hit the dance floor and show off his crazy leg moves.
Vacations were always action packed, a trip to Niagara Falls meant a day in Buffalo at an NFL Patriots game. Travel was always fun, from a spur of the moment golf game, concert or our road trip conversations every moment we shared will be lovingly remembered.
Terry was the most joyful, witty and caring human and his passing has left an impact on our hearts that will never leave. See you down the road, My Love.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to Terry’s MTI crew and the staff at the SRHC for going above and beyond.
A Celebration of Terry’s Life will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Petersfield Community Club.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Petersfield Curling Club.
