Obituary
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Terrence “Terry” Anthony Ryan, 54 announce his peaceful passing on Friday, March 21st, 2025 at the Corner Brook Regional Hospital.
Terry was predeceased by his father, Joseph Roger Ryan, maternal grandparents Cornelius & Mary Chaisson, paternal grandparents Leo and Emaline Ryan, Godmother, Margaret Rose (Peggy) Ryan and many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins who welcomed him into Heaven.
Born in Port aux Basques, NL., Terry was the oldest son of Joseph Roger Ryan and Teresa Gloria “Susan” (nee Chaisson). He was the oldest child, brother to Tracey and Roger. Born with a rare brain tumor, Terry had development challenges from a young age, but despite this he had his own way of communicating with the folks around him. He may not have been able to speak his mind but those who knew and loved him could read his expressions like a book. You always knew where you stood with Terry, and it was usually in the positive. That is unless, wherever you stood was between Terry and his cup of tea.
Terry was a gentle soul. He loved his spot of tea, most recently becoming fond of the red Tim Horton’s cup. He could finish a bag of chips in the blink of an eye and still want more. However, his favorite pastime was car rides with his mother, who lovingly cared for him the majority of his life. It was a common sight seeing him sitting in the front seat with her, driving all around the Codroy Valley. The last three and a half years of Terry’s life was spent at Momentum where he had a dedicated team of caregivers and friends. Our family is grateful to know that the last chapter of Terry’s life was spent surrounded with so much joy and love. Terry was a reminder to us all how simple being ‘happy’ could be.
He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his Mother, his brother Roger (Patricia) and sister Tracey. His nephew Ryan, and nieces Emma, Paige, Harley and Eva. His Godfather, Gerald Ryan and many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. He had multiple selfless caregivers over the years who aided our family in Terry’s care who we know will miss him dearly as well.
In keeping with the family’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Terry’s loved ones will be keeping him close until his mother is called to Heaven – and both will be laid to rest together.
