Ted Letts Obituary
Ted (Theodore) James Letts
1951 – 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ted (Theodore) James Letts, who departed peacefully on June 12, 2025, just eleven days shy of his 74th birthday. Ted was born and raised in Carleton Place, the son of the late Gordon and Dorothy Letts.
Ted was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 52 years, Debbie (née MacIntosh), and a proud and loving father to Jennifer (Joe De Vuono) and Jason (Mary Ann Petrunewich). He was the cherished Grandpa of four grandchildren: Rebecca, Matthew, Nathan, and Warren.
Ted was a beloved son-in-law to George Thompson and the late Joan Thompson and to the late Keith and Orpha MacIntosh. He was predeceased by his sister Shirley and is survived by his sister Freda.
A hardworking and principled man, Ted held many jobs over the years, but his primary career was as a Heavy Truck and Equipment Technician. Most recently, he served as the Fleet Manager for the Township of Leeds and Thousand Islands. Outside of his professional work, Ted poured his heart into farming on the family farm in Drummond/North Elmsley—a true passion of his.
He was also an active and committed member of his community, serving on numerous boards and committees, including the Lanark Federation of Agriculture, the Upper Canada District School Board as trustee, and Carleton Place Hydro, always advocating for causes close to his heart.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the incredible staff at Lanark Lodge (Maples Unit) for their care, compassion, and support. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 12, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Carleton Place Legion, 177 George St, Carleton Place.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ted’s memory may be made to Lanark Lodge (Maples Unit) or the Alzheimer Society of Lanark Leeds Grenville.
