Obituary of Sylvia Margaret Jones
It is with great sadness that the family of Sylvia Margaret Jones (nee Schur), announce her peaceful passing while surrounded by her family, after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Oshawa.
Sylvia leaves to mourn her partner, Doug. She was a loving mother to her daughters, Lindsey Wills (Brad) and Stacey Hutsell (Darryl). Cherished grandmother to Michael, Rylan, Hunter, Lucas, Jacob, Blake, and Mason. Dear sister to Sinie, Harry, Tony, Hank, Mary, and Cathy. Predeceased by her parents Herman and Gezina, and her brothers Herman, Frank, Joe and Freddy. Sylvia will be missed by the girls’ dad Pat Donovan and step-father Douglas Jones.
Sylvia was born on June 14, 1961 in Kingston, Ontario and worked at Canada Post for 15 years. Mom also ran her own business for over 10 years making countertops. She loved spending summers on Wolfe Island when the girls were younger, and later summers on Chemong Lake. She was a very proud Nana to her 7 grandsons who were the apple of her eye. She loved the outdoors and keeping busy. During her 15 months of illness, she spent her time making crafts for her family. She was a talented woman, she could make just about anything you asked her to, from dressers to Muskoka chairs, to small little fire trucks for the boys. Mom was proud of her girls and the families they built. Her sense of humour lasted to her last breath and won’t soon be forgotten.
Rest easy momma bear, you’re free from the pain now. Love you, Girlfriend.
A special thanks to the Doctors and Nurses on 4F at Lakeridge Health/Oshawa for compassionately caring for mom in her final 7 days.
A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, April 6th at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 419, 484 Bay Street, from 1 – 4 p.m.
