STEINER, Sydney J. – It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Sydney J. Steiner, loving husband of Frances Steiner, father of Honey Steiner (deceased), David Steiner, Janine (and Sasha) Jovanovic. He was a proud grandfather to Franky Bernstein, Sami Spalter, Noah Steiner, Max Jovanovic, and Roman Jovanovic, and the great-grandfather of Ivy Jean Steiner.
An accomplished attorney, real estate developer, and investor, Sydney passed away in his home peacefully on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at the age of 90. A long-time resident of Dallas, Texas, Sydney’s remarkable life journey began in Toronto, Canada, where he spent the first half of his life building the foundation of his professional and personal legacy.
Sydney’s early years were marked by a passion for learning, a commitment to hard work, and an innate curiosity that would guide him throughout his life. He achieved success as an attorney and later transitioned into real estate development and investment, expanding his ventures across Canada and the United States. A visionary and an entrepreneur, Sydney exemplified the power of determination and resilience in turning aspirations into achievements.
Sydney was a lifelong scholar with an insatiable appetite for intellectual pursuits. He immersed himself in the study of philosophy, religion, science, and history, always seeking to understand the world and share his insights with others. An avid reader, he was as comfortable debating complex ideas as he was sharing a lighthearted anecdote, captivating everyone around him with his charm and wit.
After moving to Dallas, Texas, Sydney continued thriving professionally while becoming a beloved figure in his community. Known for his magnetic personality, he was the life of the party, a trusted mentor, and a motivator who inspired countless friends and colleagues. His generosity extended beyond his professional life, supporting religious causes, educational initiatives, and the arts, including the Dallas Symphony.
A man of diverse passions, Sydney found joy in squash and tennis, as well as golf. Above all, he cherished his role as the devoted patriarch of his family.
In honor of the family’s wishes, funeral services were held privately. Sydney J. Steiner’s legacy of love, generosity, and intellectual curiosity will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know him.
