Obituary for Suzanne Patricia Martin (nee Vandermaarel)
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Suzanne Patricia Martin (nee Vandermaarel), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, on September 19, 2025, at the age of 65. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and joy that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Born on May 19, 1960, Suzanne was a cherished sister to Marianne (Bob) Wright, Joanne (Neil) Hatfield, and John (Helen) Vandermaarel. Suzanne is survived by her loving husband, Ted, with whom she shared 43 years of marriage, filled with love, laughter, and shared memories. Suzanne was the proud mother of Jeff (Lisa), Greg (Claire), and Lindsay (James), and a doting grandmother to Sawyer, Adelyn, Eli, Charlie, Brianna, Raya, and Sophia. Suzanne’s family was the heart of her world who she devoted herself to with unwavering love and dedication that will never be forgotten.
A woman of strong faith, Suzanne loved Jesus with all her heart and lived her life according to the values of kindness, compassion, and generosity. She was a devoted member of her church community, where she found strength and peace.
Suzanne’s family and friends will remember her for her boundless generosity, her ability to make everyone feel welcome, and her joyful spirit that lit up every room she entered. Her laughter, her kindness, and her strength will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 23rd from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Northend Church in St. Catharines. A memorial service will be held in her honour at Northend Church in St. Catharines on Wednesday, September 24th at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Northend Chur ch Foodbank, in recognition of Suzanne’s commitment to giving back to her community.
