Obituary For Steve Romi Woloshyn
July 12, 1953 – January 28, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Steve Romi Woloshyn, who left us peacefully on January 28, 2025, at the age of 71. Known for his generous heart, quick wit, and unwavering dedication to his family, Steve was well-liked by all who knew him.
Steve was born to Dmytro and Johanna Woloshyn on July 12, 1953, in McLennan, Alberta. He was the second of three children. Raised on the family farm in Donnelly, Steve was a notorious trickster, often catching his mom and sisters off guard with his pranks.
As a young adult, Steve worked hard as a labourer, but he played even harder- racing his car up and down the streets of small towns and getting up to all kinds of mischief. That all changed in 1973 when he met his beloved wife, Paulette (Savard). In 1975, they married and moved to Grande Prairie, where he built a life filled with adventure and lasting friendships.
After training and working as a sheet metal mechanic, Steve started his business, R&R Power Vac, which he operated for nearly 40 years. His friendly nature and strong work ethic brought him many repeat customers and acquaintances around town.
Steve was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and his family was his greatest joy. He took immense pride in his loved ones, always eager to share his love of the outdoors and life’s simple pleasures with them. He enjoyed traveling with his family, and his many trips took him to Mexico, Hawaii, Ukraine, Poland, Australia, and across Canada.
Steve found peace and joy in nature and his garden. An avid hunter, he took great pride in providing his family with wild game. Every fall, he and his hunting buddies would gather to go quadding and tag a prized animal. During the last 15 years of his life, Steve loved spending time at Snipe Lake, where he attracted a community of like-minded outdoor enthusiasts. There, he enjoyed casting a line, boating, sharing meals and jokes, tending to his garden, and cherishing the company of friends and family.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Paulette; his children, Sheldon (Meredith), Shannon, and Crystal (Adi); his grandchildren, Soren, Marin, Benjamin, Jesse, and Patrick; his sisters, Sophie and Helen; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A caring man who was always willing to lend a helping hand, Steve’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Bear Creek Funeral Home, 11802 99 Ave, Grande Prairie. Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of Steve’s life and to stay afterward for a time of fellowship and refreshments in the reception area.
